15 Minute Boardgame Challenge

Time to completion

5 minutes (in the shower, so couple minutes to think beforehand)

Concept

You are Time Travelers with a common destination, but only limited commands to get there. Worse yet you're being chased by "something". Arriving at the end in numbers could let you ambush it, but if it catches you at midpoints, you may not make it to the end.

Board

The board consists of a straight line of 22 squares, with a Starting Time at one end, and the Final Time at the other. Players start with their playing pieces on the Starting Time square.

Rules

3-4 players.

One player plays as the "something" the rest are time travelers aiming ot ambush him at the end. The timetravelers will win if atleast 2 of them make it to the end at the same time as the "something". If only one makes it the "something" wins.

At the end of a turn, if the "something" has landed on the same square as another player, that player is elimintated.

Movement

Players have 6 numbered time cards (pieces of paper) with the numbers 1-6 on them (the numbers add to 21, so all players will make it to the end at the same time). Each round all players choose one of their cards in secret (without revealing or discussing with any other players), and all reveal at the same time, players then move the number of squares indicated on their chosen card.

Each Time Card can only be used once. So it will be up to the players, and the "something" to try and guess each others movements, based on numbers already used.

Asset List

1 - Playing Board

3 - Time Traveler Pieces

1 - "Something" Piece

4 - Sets of Time Cards (6 cards per set numbered 1-6)

I assume that players who reach the end prematurely (not the same turn as the Something) are then removed from the board? Otherwise there is no reason not to play highest cards first to get there as fast as possible and wait.

I should have clarified, they can only use any given card once (changing that now), so the end effect is they will all have moved 21 squares by the end of the 6th round. Everyone will be on the last square at the same time, assuming they haven't already been eliminated.

I like it. Very ingenious and I like the guessing aspect. Really simple game but with lots of fun potential. I don't think you really need a board (you can just keep the tally) and you can use playing cards.

Nice simple design. This game seems like good fun! It kind of mixes the rock/paper/scissors mechanism with some deduction.
