Swing Dresser! by Liam O'Brien

Swing Dresser! is a board game developed for the 15 Minute Board Game Challenge and intended for play between three or more people... less won't work properly and I think the max is gonna be 6 or so.

Story

The regular dresser is out sick. You've never seen the show or been backstage, and you only have notes to tell you what to do... this wouldn't be so bad if you were the only swing on tonight...

Equipment

1 six sided die, 36 cards numbered 1-12, a marker for each player (the squares are approx. 20mm, so that size or smaller), and the Swing Dresser Board

Gameplay

Players take turns going to the numbered locations, and then drawing cards that tell them to go to other numbered locations.

Begin

Place your marker in a square anywhere on the board. Go clockwise around the table until each player has placed a marker. No markers may occupy the same spaces! Ever!

Each player then draws a card.

Each player then rolls a six sided die to determine who goes first. Highest roll goes first.

On Turn

Roll a die, you may move that many spaces. You may not "jump over" other players, nor may you occupy the same space as them. Space is tight backstage! Proceed to the space on the map with the same number as your card. If you reach that space, your card is now "finished," and you may keep it (when you reach five, the game is over). Draw another card, and your turn ends.

You may not pass through any of the heavy pencil lines, these are solid walls. You may not move diagonally, nor may you move onto the spaces marked "actor only."

You do not need to use up all of your movement each turn, but you cannot save it!

If you are blocked by another player, too bad! Wait for them to move on their next turn.

There are "special cards" available in the green room... but I don't have time to think them up right now.

Winning

First player to finish 5 cards wins, and the game ends.

(Egad, this takes a long time to type! I think it took me 4 times longer to type this than to perform the challenge!)

I realize now that this isn't a proper race game, more of a bunch of short races curved in on each other...

Its hard to get a feel for the game right now but I have a rough idea in my head of what is going on and how to play it. One flaw I think would be that if you roll a 1 as the first person to go no one can pass you. If I understand it correctly... Granted having different numbers kinds of limits the ability to screw everyone over but it still seems like it would be annoying on the first turn to have the first person to go roll a 1 and then know you can't go anywhere.

Perhaps adding multiple paths of different lengths would help this.
