Faster Than You

Objective:

Run from the bear and get to the jeep.

Start:

Each player starts with a character and two shoes of the same color.

Then each player then rolls a die. The player with the highest roll goes first.

Turn:

At the beginning of a player's turn, they may choose to throw 1 shoe at the bear.

The then will roll a die and move based on the number rolled and the number of shoes he/she is wearing:

Wearing 2 shoes, player moves the number showing

Wearing 1 shoe, player moves the number showing minus 2

Wearing 0 shoes, player moves the number showing minus 4

Players move 1 space minimum.

(Examples)

Player wearing 2 shoes and rolls a 4 gets to move 4 spaces

Player wearing 0 shoes and rolls a 4 gets to move 1 space

If a player lands on a space occupied by a player, the occupiyingplayer gives one of his shoes or the new player's shoes(if he has any) to the new player. The new player gets to roll again.

Shoes:

The more shoes a player is wearing, the faster they can run, but players can only wear their own shoes. Players can throw 1 shoe at the bear (including his/her own) during the beginning of  the player's turn. If a player chooses to throw a shoe, they must roll the die to see how far back they can throw the shoe. If the bear is in that range, then the shoe stops on that spot and the bear misses a turn.

Bear:

After the last player moves, roll the die to see how far the bear moves. If a bear lands on a space occupied by a player, that player rolls a die:

player rolls a 1, the player plays dead and misses a turn

player rolls a 2 or 3, the player gets eaten and the bear misses a turn

player rolls a 5 or 6, the player sprints ahead that many spaces (regardless of how many shoes they are wearing).

Winning the Game:

The game is over when players cannot move anymore. A player stops moving when he/she has been eaten by the bear or he/she has made it to the jeep. All players who have made ti to the jeep win.

Nice. I like the way the players interact with each other through their shoes.

Can the bear take shortcuts, too? If so, what happens if the bear is in front of me? Am I safe or do I have to overtake the bear?

I think that the shoe mechanic would need a really simple physical representation to allow players to apply the rules easily. Interesting how different this is from the essentially similar Faster than the Bear.
